The test includes Monensin, Narasin and Nicarbazin.
These are common anticoccidial drug residues used in animal feed to control coccidiosis in poultry and growth promoter in cattle.<\/p>\n

Monensin and Narasin are common ionophores that disrupts the parasite’s ion balance by allowing excessive sodium influx, leading to cell death and is considered effective against a wide range of Eimeria species (found in feed samples). Nicarbazin is a non-ionophore anticoccidial that works by inhibiting the parasite’s metabolism.<\/p>\n
Testing for these antibiotics in feed and pelleted samples is critical to ensure compliance to regulatory requirements and to avoid any potential harmful side effects.<\/p>\n
